This dreamgroup is dedicated to remembering our indigenous ways of knowing through community dream work. The focus of this dream group will be on receiving and sharing the important messages from the spiritual world in this prophetic year of 2012. We will work with ritual, art, tarot, guided meditation, and plant spirit medicine to enhance the dreamwork process.

Rare visit & talk by Toltec-Mexica elder October 22nd in Berkeley, CA
On October 22nd, esteemed elder and Sundance chief, Tlakaelel from Teotihuacan, Mexico, will make a rare appearance in the Bay Area. Tlakaelel has been teaching about the great Meso-American cultures for over 50 years.

We are entering Nemontemi, five days of reflection and rest before Yancuic Xihuitl Matlac-ome-uan Acatl (twelve-reed) which arrives at noon on March 12, 2011. This is the year before our Teoxihuitl begins, the Sacred Cycle of 26,000 years.
Next year, thirteen obsedian knife, the first celestial manifestation of Teoxihuitl begins thirteen days after the March 20, 2012 Spring equinox when the seven stars of the Pleiades will align with Venus.
Twelve is community, thirteen are the stars said those who came before us. Reed is symbolic of the state of Creation in which there is always more space than form. The obsedian knife is a symbol of cutting through darkness to expose truth. By that meaning, this coming year is one which our community reflects on the vastness of what we need to learn.
As stars are symbols of consciousness and next year is the time to “cut through the sky and reveal Her truth.” The era of Tlaolli (tlayolli-that which gives life) or Corn will come to end. An era, a civilization, a way of Life that began on August 13, 5,124 years ago will give way.
There is much preparation for a New Era, a New Sun. For this the ancestors told us “restore the ceremonies, renew the convenants, return to the sacred places,” to which an elder once added “and follow the story in the sky.”

Clearing up misconceptions about the Mayan Calendar
Mayan elder Don Alejandro (Wandering Wolf) travels around the world to educate people about the true meaning of the Mayan prophecies. Since so much misinformation has been spread about the prophecy of the year 2012, it is important for people to hear from the Mayan elders themselves. I had the fortune of hearing Don Alejandro speak when he was here in the Bay Area a few years ago. He is in the process of making a full length movie called Shift of the Ages, which will be released in early 2010. Here are important clips that are available on his website www.shiftoftheages.com. They are well done, moving to watch and the the cinematography is beautiful.

Apela has uploaded another video to youtube of her talking about the Sacred Fire Ceremony on March 21st. The lighting is a little eerie, it’s like she is talking from the Spirit World. She says some very important things about the meaning of the ceremony:
“40,000 years ago, the ancestors built the sacred fire. They built this fire with great power & great purpose. They built it in such a way that we, their descendants would awaken in the right time and reignite the sacred fire to remember our relationships with each other and to remember our sacred relationship with the Earth.”

I was excited to find a video by an Aleut elder and spiritual teacher of mine, Ilarion Mercuelieff on YouTube. He talks about the epidemic of diabetes in the Native American communities and how it can be addressed through natural methods. I think the most important thing he says is at the end of the video, where he talks about the prophecies of these times and what is happening to Mother Earth, and to our own bodies:
Iliaron says, during these times, “Mother Earth is waking up from a great, deep sleep. And as She does, her vibration goes up. And for those who cannot maintain in their bodies a mirror of what Mother Earth is doing and waking up themselves, they are not going to be here very much longer…..
……and the Elders say we can’t give the world anything we don’t have ourselves, and so if we’re here to restore our cultures, restore our way of life, restore our communities back to health and restore Mother Earth back to health, we’ve got to start first with ourselves.”
