Atava's Master's thesis from Naropa Univerisity Oakland, where she received a degree in Indigenous Mind in 2003.  Her thesis documents her journey to reconnect with her Polish ancestors and her travels to Poland to discover more about her indigenous Polish roots.  Topics covered include indigenous science, recovering indigenous mind, dreamwork, Baba Yaga, family healing, and death.
